29 CFR 1926.416(a)(1): No employer shall permit an employee to work in such proximity to any part of an electric power circuit that the employee could contact the electric power circuit in the course of work, unless the employee is protected against electric shock by deenergizing the circuit and grounding it or by guarding it effectively by insulation or other means. a. 59 boulevard east West New York, NJ. Employee was observed working from a two-point suspension scaffold that was in close proximity to an energized service drop, thereby exposing the employee to possible electrocution. 29 CFR 1926.451(g)(3)(i): When vertical lifelines are used, they shall be fastened to a fixed safe point of anchorage, shall be independent of the scaffold, and shall be protected from sharp edges and abrasion. Safe points of anchorage include structural members of buildings, but do not include standpipes, vents, other piping systems, electrical conduit, outrigger beams, or counterweights. a. 59 boulevard east West New York, NJ. The vertical lifeline for this scaffold were not fastened to a safe point of anchorage as the line was wrapped around an outrigger beam which is not a suitable anchorage point. Violation occurred on or about 03/16/2015
