(a) North side, new residential construction located at 5261 Austell Road, Austell, GA: Employer allowed employees to use the TranzSporter (Model LH200) Platform Hoist as a ladder to access the roof. Manufacturer's general safety instructions state that this hoist should never be used as a ladder.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): A portable ladder was used for access to an upper level landing surface and the ladder's length did not allow the ladder side rails to extend at least 3 feet (0.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed, the ladder was not secured at its top to a rigid support that will not deflect, and/or a grasping device was not provided to assist employees in mounting and dismounting the ladder. a) North side wall of house at 5261 Austell Road, Austell, GA- Employer was using an extension ladder to access the roof of a single family house that was not extended three (3) feet above the landing or tied off to prevent displacement, exposing the employee to fall hazards of approximately 9 feet above ground level.
