OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that an employee was exposed to struck-by hazards.:    a) CBR Enterprises, LLC at 3200 County Rd 31, Rifle, CO 81650:  On or before April 2nd, 2015, the employer did not ensure that employees performing and assisting in fabrication operations were protected from struck-by hazards.    While inspecting the welds on an eight foot section of four-inch steel pipe an employee was struck when the weld on the elevated portion failed; causing the pipe component to swing and strike the employees leg.  The employee suffered a broken leg as a result.     Abatement Note:  Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatements methods to correct this hazard are:  1. Provide temporary supporting braces to structural components during the fabrication process so that welds are not exposed to excessive forces.  2.  Ensure that welding operations are conducted in such a manner that structural components are stable and secure prior to moving the fixture into another position.  3.  Instruct and position employees during work operations to ensure that they are not exposed to overhead hazards in the event that there be a weld failure.
