A reasonable estimate of employees' exposures to the respirable hazards from silica dust was not done.

29 CFR 1926.55(b): Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not implemented to reduce employee exposure(s): a) On or about 05/20/2015, at a work site on a US Highway 41 bridge located over N Green Bay Road in Neenah, WI feasible administrative or engineering controls were not implement to reduce employees' exposure to airborne respirable crystalline silica generated by a Stihl TS 500i concrete saw which was used to dry cut concrete. Applicable administrative or engineering controls may include, but are not limited to the following: 1) Utilize wet cutting methods and equipment to significantly reduce or eliminate airborne respirable silica generated during concrete cutting operations. 2) Utilize portable exhaust ventilation equipment to capture silica dust at the point of generation during concrete cutting operations. 3) Conduct worksite hazard assessments to determine/estimate employee exposures. See OSHA CPL 02-00-58 "Inspection Procedures for the Respiratory Protection Standard" Section IX.D.1. for guidance on respirator hazard assessments.
