29 CFR 1910.213(d)(1): Circular handfed crosscut table saw(s) were not guarded by an automatically adjusting hood which completely enclosed that portion of the saw above the table and above the material being cut: (a) Maintenance Shop, 373 1/2 Burrows Street, Pittsburgh, PA: On or about April 24, 2015 the Ryobi 10 inch table saw was not guarded by an automatically adjusting hood which completely enclosed the portion of the saw blade above the table and material being cut. An operator was cutting a piece of wood when a nail inside the piece was struck and was thrown back striking the operator in the face. There was no guard or hood in place to protect the operator from flying pieces or the rotating blade.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Maintenance Shop, 373 1/2 Burrows Street, Pittsburgh, PA: On or before 05/20/15 there was no guard in place on the Ryobi 10 inch table saw to protect the operator from contact with the rotating saw blade or flying debris. Employees use the saw to cut plastic blinds exposing them to potential injury from the rotating blade or flying debris.
