29 CFR 1926.600(a)(2): A safety tire rack, cage, or equivalent protection shall be provided and used when inflating, mounting, or dismounting tires installed on split rims, or rims equipped with locking rings or similar devices. On or about May 18, 2015, the employer did not ensure employees inflating a tire on a Motor Grader with split rims were protected by a safety tire rack, cage or equivalent. This condition exposed employees to struck-by hazards.
