OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a. Within the walk-in freezer, on or about 05/29/15: The door handle inside the walk-in freezer was inoperable thereby impeding escape from within the freezer. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to; Repair the door handle within the freezer to ensure proper function in accordance with NSF/ANSI - 2009 Commercial Refrigerators and Freezers standard, specifically section 8.1.2.4 which states ...Doors shall be capable of being opened from the inside, even when locked.... Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
