29 CFR 1910.1000(c): An employee was exposed to respirable crystalline silica in excess of the 8-hour time weighted average limits of listed in Table Z-3: a. Rear Area, 77 Wells Road, Parkerford, PA, 19457 - On or about September 11, 2015, an employee who was using a Chop Saw to cut stone was overexposed to respirable silica dust at a concentration of 0.69 milligrams per cubic meter expressed as an 8-hour time weighted average of approximately 4.469 times the daily Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.154 milligrams per cubic meter based on a 413 minute sampling period. The exposure calculations included a zero-increment for the 67 minutes not sampled.

29 CFR 1910.1000(e): Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not determined and implemented to achieve compliance with the limits prescribed in 29 CFR 1910.1000(a) through (d): a. Rear Area, 77 Wells Road, Parkerford, PA, 19457 - On or about September 11, 2015, an employee who was using a Chop Saw to cut stone was overexposed to respirable silica dust at a concentration of 0.69 milligrams per cubic meter expressed as an 8-hour time weighted average of approximately 4.469 times the daily Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.154 milligrams per cubic meter. Feasible administrative or engineering controls to reduce exposure to respirable crystalline silica are: Isolation (e.g., control room, enclosures, or barriers). Local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems. Substitution with non-crystalline silica material.
