OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards from elevations while using body belts as part of a fall protection system while performing work atop the elevated platforms on the Toyota #52 stand up order selector lift truck model # 6BPU15.  Unserviceable/damaged body belts were in use as part of a fall protection system on the Toyota stand up order selector lift truck while retrieving small boxes stored on elevated shelves exposing employees to fall hazards between four (4) and twelve (12) feet and exposing employees to serious bodily injury due to sudden stopping imposed by using body belts as part of a fall protection system.       Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard includes, but not limited to, the following:        1. Replace all body belts with full body harnesses as part of the fall protection system.      2. Ensure all fall protection systems are equipped with deceleration devices.      3. Develop and implement a fall protection equipment inspection program.      4. Develop and implement a fall protection training program for all employees exposed to fall hazards in order to instruct each employee in the recognition of fall hazards, the limitations of fall protection and the means to minimize and/or eliminate fall hazards.
