29 CFR 1910.132(c): Design. All personal protective equipment shall be of safe design and construction for the work to be performed. a. On or about June 19, 2015, located at the John W. Bricker Federal Building in Columbus, Ohio, an employee was cleaning windows at a height of approximately 40 feet from an Ommelift 2500 aerial lift while wearing a job-made lanyard as part of a fall protection system. The lanyard was not designed to protect the employee during a fall, thereby exposing the employee to additional injury if a fall would occur.
