29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. (a) Worksite located at 601 NE 70th Street Gladstone, Missouri 64118. The employee was exposed to serious injuries, in that the unprotected sides and edges of the elevated work areas were not provided with guardrails or any other means of fall protection. The employee was working on 3 apartment balconies putting in GFCI in the electrical outlets; the balconies did not have the guardrails in place yet. The balconies located on floors one, two, and three with fall heights of 11 feet to 33 feet.
