29 CFR 1910.219(b)(2): Cranks and connecting rods. Cranks and connecting rods, when exposed to contact, shall be guarded in accordance with paragraphs (m) and (n) of this section, or by a guardrail as described in paragraph (o)(5) of this section. a) Guarding was not in place during the operation of the Rollin vertical bandsaw in that the rotating cranks and connecting rods were unguarded exposing employees to struck by hazards.

29 CFR 1910.243(c)(3): Vertical portable grinders. Safety guards used on machines known as right angle head or vertical portable grinders shall have a maximum exposure angle of 180 deg., and the guard shall be so located so as to be between the operator and the wheel during use. Adjustment of guard shall be such that pieces of an accidentally broken wheel will be deflected away from the operator. a) The Milwaukee hand held angle grinders used in the machine shop were not equipped with a guard to prevent employees exposed to rotating parts.
