OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. a) In the manufacturing area, on or about July 22, 2015 or prior thereto: Employees were operating a Kalamazoo Startrite 24-T-10 Vertical Band Saw to cut aluminum pieces of up to 1 inch in width. During this operation, 10 inches of the saw blade were unguarded. Employees were exposed to the hazard of contacting the portion of the moving saw blade not directly involved with the point of operation. Abatement certification is required for this item.
