29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: Employees using the following pedestal bench grinders to remove burrs were exposed to struck-by hazards due to the adjustable tongue being located greater than one fourth inch from the abrasive wheel periphery and the employer did not ensure the adjustable tongue guard did not exceed one fourth inch: a) The Ryobi bench grinder adjustable tongue guard measured approximately one inch away from the periphery of the abrasive wheel. b) The Baldor bench grinder adjustable tongue guard measured approximately one and one forth inches away from the periphery of the abrasive wheel. Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirement of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
