29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(4): Ladder(s) were used for purposes other than the purpose for which they were designed: Location: 260 West 26th Street New York, NY 10001 a. Employee was exposed to fall hazard while leaning the ladder against a shelf inside a utility closet while he was repairing the sprinkler system inside the closet. The employee used a self-supporting ladder in a manner that was not designed for. The condition was noted at or about 07/09/2015. NOTE: BECAUSE ABATEMENT OF THIS VIOLATION IS ALREADY DOCUMENTED IN THE CASEFILE, THE EMPLOYER NEED NOT SUBMIT CERTIFICATION NOR DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT OF THIS VIOLATION AS NORMALLY REQUIRED BY 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1926.1060(a): The employer did not provide a training program for each employee using ladders and stairways, as necessary, which would enable each employee to recognize hazards related to ladders and stairways and train each employee in the procedures to be followed to minimize these hazards. Location: 260 West 26th Street New York, NY. (a) Employee working on ceiling sprinkler system within utility closet leaned ladder against the wall. The employer did not ensure that all employees were trained in the safe use of ladders, such as but not limited to, the hazards associated with using a ladder in a manner that it was not designed for, on or about July 7, 2015.
