29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a. At the south side of the roof where an employee was observed installing windows, the employee was not tied off to a fall protection system thereby exposing the employee to a 10 foot fall hazard.

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(2): The employer shall assure that each employee has been trained, as necessary, by a competent person qualified in the following areas: 29 CFR 1926.503(a)(2)(ii): The correct procedures for erecting, maintaining, disassembling, and inspecting the fall protection systems to be used; a. On the site where an employee was required to work at heights which exceeded 6 feet, the employer did not train the employee in the correct procedures for identifying the correct fall protection system to use, the correct procedures for installing that system and the correct procedures for inspecting the system each day before use thereby exposing the employee to a 10 foot fall hazard.
