Employers shall base the selection of the appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the task(s) to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified:  On or about August 19, 2015, at the Chicago Ford Assembly Plant, employees required to perform cleaning and maintenance operations in the Paint Department were provided and required to wear green nitrile (15 mil) gloves when performing cleaning operations with hazardous chemicals including solvents and corrosives.  The employer did not base the selection of the green nitrile gloves on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the glove relative to the task(s) performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified.  Employees were thereby exposed to the hazards associated with chemical contact.
