OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that, employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck-by granite and/or stone slabs or being caught in between granite and/or stone slabs and stationary objects:      a) Walker Zanger, Inc 1050  Amboy Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ site  Warehouse: Employees who unload stone slabs from transport containers are exposed to crushed-by hazards and caught in between hazards while they worked with and around improperly braced granite and stone slabs in the following manner:      The employer failed to implement an effective stone/slab handling program which addressed hazard recognition and what steps to take in the event product is received from a supplier with inadequate bracing.    Condition noted on or about 08/26/15.    Abatement Notes: Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct the hazards would be to implement the requirements of the Marble Institute of America's "Safety in the Stone Business" technical guide, the OSHA Safety and Health Information Bulletin "Hazards of Transporting, Unloading, Storing and Handling Granite, Marble and Stone Slabs" and "Hazards Associated with Transporting Granite and Marble Slabs". All documents recommend formation of a plan for stone handling and storage and provide methods which can be utilized to safely handle stone.
