29 CFR 1926.760(a)(1): Each employee engaged in a steel erection activity who is on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet (4.6 m) above a lower level was not protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, positioning device systems, or fall restraint systems.  The employer does not protect employees engaged in steel erection activities, with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet above lower levels, from falls. This violation was observed on or about September 02, 2015, on the east side of the commercial structure under construction where employees were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 19 feet 7 inches when performing sheet metal roofing activities without being protected from falls.    R & D Metal Buildings Erector was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 314908807, citation number 1 item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order February 15, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at 21530 I-10 West, Katy, TX 77450  Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that  employees engaged in a steel erection activity who is on a walking/working surface with  an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet above a lower level are protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or positioning device systems or fall restraint system or more above a lower level.
