29 CFR 1910.37(a)(2): Exit routes were not arranged so that employees did not have to travel toward a high hazard area: Well site: On or about September 4, 2015, employees operating a drilling rig during the drilling of an oil/gas well worked on the rig drilling floor. One of the drilling floor egress means was a stairway leading down to the shale shaker area of the mud pits. This exposed the employees to the hazards of explosion and a subsequent fire.

One of the drilling floor egress means was a stairway leading down to the shale shaker area of the mud pits where a shale shaker partially blocked the stairway discharge. This exposed the employees to the hazards of explosion and a subsequent fire.
