29 CFR 1960.59(a): The Agency did not provide specialized job safety and health training appropriate to the work performed by the employee: Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center, Flagstaff, AZ: On or about August 28, 2015, employees were exposed to exertional heatstroke during backcountry travel. The agency failed to adequately train them in the situational awareness to identify, process, and comprehend the critical elements of one's perception of the current environment and the tools necessary to make critical medical and evacuation decisions in remote locations.
