OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to burn and battery explosion hazards while performing maintenance on a Komatsu WA 320 loader: 945 Stafford Rd., Rochdale, MA: On or about September 16, 2015 two employees were exposed to burn and battery explosion hazards while they were servicing a Komatsu WA 320 loader that was missing the cover for the battery which left the live terminals exposed to accidental contact by metal tools or parts. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard including but not limited to ensuring that Original Equipment Manufacturer parts and covers designed to prevent accidental contact and damage to electrical parts are installed and replaced if missing or damaged.
