OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards caused by the use of PVC to transport compressed air:   On or about September 17, 2015,   a) Employees were exposed to struck-by hazards during the use of compressed air to run pneumatic tools in the machine shop area, where PVC piping was used to transport compressed air (120 PSI) during work operations.   Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard as recommended by the Plastic Pipe Institute is to ensure that the pipe is buried, encased in shatter resistant material, or replaced with metal (copper or iron) pipe or ABS type plastic pipe.
