29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc.    Bevel Machine Operators were required to hand feed parts onto the machine's conveying system while being exposed to caught-in and/or amputation hazards created by ingoing nip points and/or rotating parts as the employer failed to install proper guarding.    Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): The point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefore, or, in the absence of applicable specific standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his body in the danger zone during the operating cycle.  Bevel Machine Operators were exposed to an amputation hazard while hand-feeding parts onto the machine as employer failed to install proper guarding near the point of operation.   Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR 1910.303(g)(2)(i): Except as elsewhere required or permitted by Subpart S of Part 1910, live parts of electric equipment operating at 50 volts or more shall be guarded against accidental contact by use of approved cabinets or other forms of approved enclosures or by any of the means identified in paragraphs (A), (B), (C), and (D) of 29 CFR 1910.303(g)(2)(i).    Pultrusion Machine Operators were required to operate Pultrusion Machines while being exposed to electrical hazards created by heat strips operating at approximately 220 volts as the employer did not ensure that live parts were properly guarded.    There is no abatement certification or documentation required for this item.
