29 CFR 1910.213(j)(3): Each hand-fed jointer with a horizontal cutting head did not have an automatic guard which would cover all the section of the head on the working side of the fence or gage, effectively keep the operator's hand from coming in contact with the revolving knives, and automatically adjust itself to cover the unused portion of the head and remain in contact with the material at all times. (a) Jordan Woodworking, LLC, at 8811 Rogers Road, Longmont, CO 80503; On and before October 7, 2015, the exposing employer failed to ensure that the guard on a Delta DJ 20 jointer had a guard which would effectively prevented the operators hand from coming into contact with the revolving knives. An employee that was operating the jointer amputated three fingers when his left hand came into contact with the revolving knives. This condition exposed employees to an amputation hazard.
