29 CFR 1926.405(b)(1): Conductors entering boxes, cabinets, or fittings. Conductors entering boxes, cabinets, or fittings shall be protected from abrasion, and openings through which conductors enter shall be effectively closed. Unused openings in cabinets, boxes, and fittings shall also be effectively closed. a. In the hallway of the building where employees used temporary electrical receptacles to provide power to electrical equipment such as extension cords and other corded tools, there was an unused opening on a receptacle box, thereby exposing the employees to a 125 volt electrical contact hazard.
