29 CFR 1926.451(f)(14): Makeshift devices, such as but not limited to boxes and barrels, were used on top of scaffold platforms to increase the working level height of employees: On or about October 21, 2015 and at times prior thereto, employees were working on a residential building. Two employees were observed using makeshift devices on top of scaffold platforms to increase their working level height. One employee working on the seventh tier of the scaffold was using a single plank which he placed diagonally in order to reach a higher level. The other employee who was working on the sixth tier, used a bucket to stand on so as to reach higher. The employees were exposed to fall hazards of greater than ten feet to the ground below.
