Balancing Abrasive Wheels Department - On or about November 20, 2015, a food article was stored along with working tools and personal protective equipment (dust masks/gloves) inside a metal cabinet near the lead pot operation. Employees were thereby exposed to the hazards associated with lead exposure.

Each employer who has a workplace or work operation covered by this standard shall determine if any employee may be exposed to lead at or above the action level. a. Abrasive Wheels Balancing Department - On or about November 12, 2015, employees were required to perform manufacturing operations with material containing lead (Pb) and the employer had not made an initial determination regarding employee exposure to lead. Employees were thereby exposed to the hazards associated with lead exposure.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(2)(ii): Any operations in their work area where hazardous chemicals are present; and, a. Abrasive Wheels Production Areas - On or about November 12, 2015, the employer's hazard communication training program did not include information on combustion operations in their work area and the release of carbon monoxide gas levels(CO). The different sources and work processes of carbon monoxide gas release were the following; 1. The use of natural gas to heat the lead (Pb) melting pot at the Balancing Abrasive Wheel Area. 2. The use of propane gas (C3H8) to powered two (2) industrial trucks. 3. The use of natural gas to heat the "Baso" pot to melt sulfur (S) cement at the Center Less Area.
