At a construction jobsite, employees performing roofing activity on a roof used a hand-held portable grinder that was not equipped with a guard to cut tile exposing the employees to amputation hazards.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11): Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet or more above lower levels was not protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. At a construction jobsite, employees performing roofing activity on a roof with a 6 in 12 pitch were not protected from fall hazards of approximately 17 feet to the ground below.
