29 CFR 1910.134(d)(1)(iii): The employer did not identify and evaluate the respiratory hazard in the workplace: (a) Castle Rock Construction Company of Colorado LLC, at US Highway 36, Louisville, CO: On and preceding 12/3/15, the employer did not identify and evaluate the respiratory hazard in the workplace. Employees performed demolition activities during removal of concrete panels on the US Highway 36 construction project. Concrete contains crystalline quartz. The demolition of concrete potentially released respirable silica. Employee exposure to respirable silica had not been determined. This condition potentially exposed the employees to a respiratory hazard.

29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A): Respirators with tight-fitting facepieces were worn by employees who had facial hair that came between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or that interfered with valve function: (a) Castle Rock Construction Company of Colorado LLC, at US Highway 36, Louisville, CO: On 12/7/15, the employer did not ensure employees wearing tight-fitting facepieces did not have facial hair that came between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face. Employees performed demolition activities during removal of concrete panels on the US Highway 36 construction project. Concrete contains crystalline quartz. The demolition of concrete potentially released respirable silica. Employees were required to wear 3M model 8210 filtering face piece respirators while performing demolition activities. One employee had significant facial hair between the facepiece and the face. This condition potentially exposed the employee to a respiratory hazard.
