29 CFR 1910.1000(c): An employee was exposed to crystalline silica quartz (respirable fraction) in excess of the 8-hour time weighted average limits of the calculated permissible exposure limit listed in Table Z-3: a. At the site an employee engaged in cutting concrete was exposed to respirable dust containing 15% crystalline silica (quartz) at a TWA level of 3.146 milligrams per cubic meter which represented 5.35 times the OSHA-PEL of 0.588 milligrams per cubic meter; this limit is established to prevent silicosis. The exposure level was derived from one sample collected over a 256-minute period; the remaining 224 minutes were considered zero exposure. Hazard observed on or about 12/15/2015.
