One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. a. Located in the mill at 648 Salem Church Road in Wellston, Ohio: On or about December 28, 2015 and at times prior, employees were exposed to a struck by hazard as a result of an unguarded claw arm which lowered logs from the mills incoming chain conveyor to the feed conveyor of the halving saw. b. Located in the mill at 648 Salem Church Road in Wellston, Ohio: On or about December 28, 2015 and at times prior, employees were exposed to a caught in hazard as a result of two unguarded log positioning rollers at the beginning of the feed conveyor of the halving saw.

Construction, operation, and maintenance of conveyors shall be in accordance with American National Standard B20.1-1957, which is incorporated by reference as specified in Sec. 1910.6. a. Located in the mill at 648 Salem Church Road in Wellston, Ohio: On or about December 17, 2015 and at times prior, employees were unjamming stave bolts from a bolt flipper and descrambler (conveyor) which had unguarded chains and sprockets, exposing employees to caught in and nip point hazards.

Located in the mill at 648 Salem Church Road in Wellston, Ohio: On or about December 28, 2015 and at times prior, the halving saw operator and incoming chain conveyor operator were exposed to flying wood chips from a Brewco twin circular halving saw, Model BFH505-14 that did not have a hood or guard.
