29 CFR 1926.850(a): An engineering survey was not performed by a competent person to determine the conditions of the framing floors and walls and the possibility of unplanned collapse of any portion of the structure prior to permitting employees to start demolition operations.    At the Preliminary Treatment Structure located at the 3510 East Laurel Road, Venice, FL 34275.    (a) Employees were cutting and chipping a concrete slab when an engineering survey had not been performed. One of the employees was cutting underneath a 5,000 lb. concrete slab when the slab collapsed, fatally injuring the employee, on or about 01/14/2016.
