29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards were present, or likely to be present, which would necessitate the use of personal protective equipment. An employee engaged in forklift maintenance activities at the batter charger was exposed to chemical hazards associated with corrosive chemicals, in that a hazard assessment had not been conducted in order to determine what personal protective equipment is needed when engaging in such tasks.

29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. An employee engaged in forklift maintenance and servicing activities at the battery charger was exposed to chemical hazards in that an eye wash station was not available in the area where the employee was servicing the batteries.
