29 CFR 1910.303(b)(1): Examination. Electric equipment shall be free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Safety of equipment shall be determined using the following considerations: a) On February 12, 2016 the Hobart Cutter Mixer was not free from an electrical hazard in that a panel was removed on the side of the machine that left energized electrical wiring exposed to employees and was likely to cause serious physical harm.

Note: Personal protective equipment requirements are contained in subpart I of this part. a) On February 12, 2016 employees were not provided with rubber insulated gloves when starting the Hobart Mixer Cutter by using metal pliers to contact exposed energized electrical terminals.
