29 CFR 1910.1000(a)(2): Employee was exposed to an airborne concentration of copper fume listed in Table Z-1 in excess of the 8 hour Time Weighted Average concentration of 0.100 milligrams per cubic meter: At the time of the inspection, the employee brazing copper fittings was exposed to an 8 hour time weighted average exposure of 0.450 milligrams per cubic meter or 4.5 times the limit allowed. Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.

29 CFR 1910.1000(e): Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not determined and implemented to achieve compliance with the limits prescribed in 29 CFR 1910.1000(a) through (d): At the time of the inspection, engineering controls did not reduce exposures to copper fume below the permissible exposure limit of 0.10 milligrams per cubic meter. The employee brazing copper fittings was exposed to 0.450 milligrams per cubic meter of copper fume or 4.5 times the 8 hour time weighted average. Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful.
