29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation shall be protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section except when: a. On or about March 8, 2016, at the above addressed jobsite, an employee was conducting water line installation in a trench measured at seven (7) feet three (3) inches in depth. The trench was not provided with adequate cave in protection, thereby exposing the employee to cave in hazards.
