29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employers shall provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new physical or health hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals. Chemical-specific information must always be available through labels and safety data sheets. WORKSHOP: The employer did not provide training and information to the employees required to work with chemicals, such as (but not limited to) vegetable based inks, developers, fixers, washers, fountain solution, and press wash on the chemical hazard communications, including the Globalized Harmonized System (GHS). The Prospect Printing Company, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard 29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1), which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 948136, Citation 1, Item 4b, issued on 01-06-2014, with a final order date of 01-31-2014, with respect to a workplace location at 16 Waterbury Road, Prospect, CT 06418.
