29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On and before March 16, 2016, employees were exposed to inadequate and missing guarding at the following machinery. a) The slide door guarding interlocks were disconnected on the #7 and #12 multi-spindle screw machines. b) The slide doors for the multi-spindle screw machines numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 32,33 were open and did not have interlocks. c) The 26 multi-spindle screw machine drive axle shaft ends were inadequately guarded. d) Deleted e) The metal chip augers for multi-spindle screw machines #12 and #25 were not guarded. f) The Powermatic and the Toolmaster drill presses were not guarded at the rotating chucks. g) The Leblond and the Clark lathes were not guarded at the rotating chucks.
