OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees:  On 05/17/2016, employees working at Bradley Motor Werke located at 6184 Bermuda Drive, Ferguson, MO were working with two automotive lifts in their repair facility. None of lifts were inspected per the Challenger Lifts Installation, Operation & Maintenance Manual or the 2008 American National Standards Institute Standard for Automotive Lifts, Safety Requirements of Operation, Inspection and Maintenance (ANSI/ALI ALIOM:2008).  Bradley Motor Werke had the following lifts at the location:    a) Challenger Lift, Model: 3700, S/N: 371151, this was called the South lift, located in the corner closest to the South wall.   b) VBM Automotive lift, Challenger Lift, S/N: 31442, this was called the North lift, closest to the shops garage door.   One method of abatement is to have a qualified inspector perform inspections required by ANSI/ALI ALIOM: 2008, paragraphs 5.6.1 through 5.6.2.28.  The issues with these automotive lifts may be abated by having a qualified inspector perform inspections as required by the ANSI/ALI ALIOM: 2008.    DISCLAIMER:     a) The employer is not limited to the abatement method(s) suggested by OSHA.   b) The employer is responsible for selecting and implementing an effective abatement method.

29 CFR 1910.22(d)(1): In every building or other structure, or part thereof, used for mercantile, business, industrial, or storage purposes, the loads approved by the building official shall be marked on plates of approved design which shall be supplied and securely affixed by the owner of the building, or his duly authorized agent, in a conspicuous place in each space to which they relate. Such plates shall not be removed or defaced but, if lost, removed, or defaced, shall be replaced by the owner or his agent:   On 05/17/2016, employees working at Bradley Motor Werke located at 6184 Bermuda Drive, Ferguson, MO were periodically in the Parts Room and other shop areas which were exposed to storage of supplies on the floor above.  There was no signage addressing acceptable load limits for the storage areas.
