29 CFR 1910.106(e)(9)(iii): Combustible waste material and residues in a building or unit operating area were not kept to a minimum, stored in covered metal receptacles and disposed of daily: Shop, at work benches On or about 5/24/16, employees were using mineral spirits and acetone on rags to clean metal parts. These used rags with flammable solvents on them were then thrown in open trash cans. There were no closable metal containers in the shop for proper disposal.

29 CFR 1910.134(k)(6): The employer did not provide the basic advisory information on respirators, as presented in Appendix D of 29 CFR 1910.134, in written or oral format to employees who wear respirators when such use was not required by the employer: Shop, welding and painting areas, On or about 5/26/16, an employee that performs welding and spray painting tasks was issued a North 7700 half face respirator with an organic vapor cartridge and pre-filter. The use of the respirator is not required by the employer, but provided for comfort use at the employee's discretion. The employee was not provided with appropriate training and/or Appendix D of the respiratory protection standard for general industry.
