29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances and chemical burns:    a) Accu Reference Medical Lab/Linden, NJ- Analytical Lab: Employees were wearing latex and nitrile examination gloves when handling acids to include formic acid, hydrochloric acid, and phosphoric acid and preparing solutions such as but not limited to mobile phases used for specimen analysis. The gloves provided by the employer were not chemical resistant gloves.     Condition observed on/or about June 2, 2016.

29 CFR 1910.1052(h)(1): Where needed to prevent methylene chloride induced skin or eye irritation, the employer did not provide clean protective clothing and equipment resistant to methylene chloride, at no cost to the employee, and/or did not ensure that each affected employee used it:  a) Accu Reference Medical Lab/Linden, NJ- Analytical Lab: Employees handling methylene chloride were wearing latex and or nitrile examination gloves which did not provide an adequate protection. Employees were exposed to methylene chloride through skin absorption.  Condition observed on/or about June 2, 2016.

Employees used Methylene Chloride (99.5%) to prepare solutions including but not limited to mobile phases used for specimen analysis.     Condition observed on/or about June 2, 2016.
