29 CFR 1910.22(c): Covers and/or guardrails were not provided to protect personnel from the hazards of open pits, tanks, vats, ditches, etc.  a) On or about June 1, 2016, the employer did not ensure the open side of the shelving system accessed by employees to perform cat food inventory and down stocking was provided with a standard guardrail or equivalent protection.   Employees required to walk and stand on the top shelf were exposed to a fall of approximately seven (7) feet.    In accordance with 29CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.
