29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On or about June 21, 2016, the employer did not ensure effective guarding of the cooling table. The barrier guard had an 11" opening exposing employees to the moving and rotating components of the machine. Production and maintenance employees were exposed to crushing hazards. Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
