29 CFR 1910.102(a): Cylinders. Employers must ensure that the in-plant transfer, handling, storage, and use of acetylene in cylinders comply with the provisions of CGA Pamphlet G-1-2009 ("Acetylene") (Compressed Gas Association, Inc., 12th ed., 2009). a) Tupp Signs, Inc. - On or about June 30, 2016, the employer failed to ensure that cylinders of acetylene were stored in accordance with Section 5.2 of CGA Pamphlet G-1-2009, in that unsecured empty acetylene cylinders and empty oxygen cylinders were stored within close proximity of each other and were not separated by 20 feet or a noncombustible partition with a one-hour fire resistance rating. Abatement Note: Storage of compressed gas cylinders shall comply NFPA 51, I-Codes, and 29 CFR.253. In addition, practices in CGA P-1, Safe Handling of Compressed Gasses in Containers should be followed, including section 5.8.4 wherein it states that all compressed gas cylinders in service or in storage shall be secured to prevent falling or rolling.
