29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): The point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefor, or, in the absence of applicable specific standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his body in the danger zone during the operating cycle: Silk Screen department, Color Vista presses #1 - #12 (AIT Astex 1550-PA double platen heat transfer printers): On or about July 1, 2016, operators were assigned to place bags by hands onto stationary platens upon which heating arm platens descended for heat pressing. Operators had their finger(s) and hand(s) exposed to contact with hot surfaces hazards (above 250 degrees Fahrenheit) during operating cycles where one or more methods of machine guarding were not provided to prevent access to the danger zone. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
