General-duty citation text
29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels was not protected by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or an alternative fall protection measure under another provision of paragraph 1926.501 (b), nor did the employer demonstrate that it is infeasible or creates a greater hazard to use these systems and develop and implement a fall protection plan which meets the requirements of paragraph (k) of section 1926.502: (a) On or about 06/24/16, at Heritage Square located on Redman Road in Brockport, New York, employees installing roof truss and framing were not protected from falling 14 feet to ground level. Employees were walking along the edge of the wall/floor opening with an air gun to anchor framing in place. The air supply hose for the air gun exposed workers of a tripping hazard at the floor edge and could be caught on the framing causing the worker to loose his balance and fall. In this case due to the tripping hazard of the air hose and the hose being caught on framing a personal fall protection system could not pose a greater hazard. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
