Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by the load should the bridge crane system fail:   a)  Shop Area, on or about 7/12/16: An overhead 2-Ton Crane used to move equipment had not been inspected on a frequent and periodic.     Among other methods one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to:     1.  Conduct frequent and periodic of the crane for wear, deteriorations and malfunction as per ASME B30.16-2007, Section 16-2.1

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):  One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created point of operation, rotating parts, and flying chips:  a)  Shop Area, on or about 7/12/16: WF Wells & Son Band Saw was not protected with a guard on the unused portion of the blade on the right side.    b) Shop Area, on or about 7/12/16:  Jet Drill Press was not provided with a chuck and tool guard.

Employees perform servicing and/or maintenance on various machinery or equipment including but not limited to: Crane and Compressor.
