29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Continuous Casting Dept.: 1) The front side of the cutting section of the blade of the VF Wells Horizontal Bandsaw was not guarded. A worker injured two fingers and a thumb while brushing chips into the trough. 2) The back side of the blade of the VF Wells Horizontal Bandsaw was not guarded to prevent workers from contacting the blade while using an air hose to blow chips into the trough.
