29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body shall be provided within the work area for immediate emergency use.  WORKSHOP:  The employer had not ensured that an emergency eyewash facility or an equivalent was readily available for the employees required to handle and work with corrosive chemicals.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc.  WORKSHOP:  The openings of the guard for the bowl of the Treemine mixer were too wide/big.

WORKSHOP:  The outer sheathing of the flexible cord of the Treemine mixer was pulled away from the clamp.

WORKSHOP:  The employer had not established and implemented a written hazard communication program, including the Globalized Harmonized System where employees were required to work with chemicals, such as (but not limited to) chlorox, degreaser and laundry soap.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employers shall provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new physical or health hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals. Chemical-specific information must always be available through labels and safety data sheets.  WORKSHOP: The employees required to work with chemicals, such as (but not limited to) chlorox, degreaser, and laundry soap were not provided with training and information in the chemical hazard communications, including the Globalized Harmonized System.
